Every gamer has been there: an incredible play, and nothing to prove it. Recording every match fills your drive in a few hours, and starting a recording by hand is something you always remember too late. The solution is retroactive recording: the PC keeps the last seconds of gameplay in memory, and you only save what’s worth it.
The idea: one key, after the fact
With G4 Studio, G4melab’s free app, you just press F9 right after the play. The app saves the seconds before it: the clip is already waiting in your library, without interrupting your match. G4 Studio works with any game and stays light so it doesn’t tank your FPS.
Even better: automatic clips
On G4melab’s Wardogs server, you don’t even need to press anything: every kill is detected server-side and G4 Studio clips it on its own. You finish your session with your best moments already sorted.
How long should a good clip be?
A good clip is short. A few seconds before the play for context, the play itself, and a second of reaction. The free version of G4 Studio keeps up to one minute, more than enough for most moments. G4 Studio Premium goes up to 5 minutes, handy for a whole round or a zone defence.
What to do with your clips?
- Share them: on Discord, with your team, or on your socials.
- Improve: rewatching a death often shows where the shot came from and what you should have done.
- Feed your channel: if you stream, your clips become shorts and highlights, as we explain in turning your streams into content.
- Fill your player profile: on g4melab.fr, your clips show on your profile, next to your level, roles and playtime.
What about quality?
Clips are recorded in 720p60 on the free plan, and in 1080p60 with Premium. For most screens and shares, 720p60 stays sharp and smooth while taking up little space.
