Wardogs servers down? Server status and players online

Wardogs won’t launch, the queue isn’t moving or you get kicked mid-match? Before reinstalling everything, check whether the problem is on your side or the servers’. Here’s where to look, the most common errors and what to do.

Is Wardogs down?

Bulkhead doesn’t publish a public status page with an API. Reliable information comes through the official channels:

  • The game’s Steam announcements: maintenance, patch notes, launch issues (Wardogs news on Steam).
  • The official X account (@WARDOGS) for short updates.
  • The game’s official Discord, accessible from the Steam page.

On the G4melab Wardogs page, a counter also shows the number of players online on Steam (updated regularly, not in real time). If it drops sharply, that’s often a bad sign for the servers.

Usual maintenance

So far, the big updates have gone through maintenance announced in advance, usually from 8:00 UTC: about an hour for patch 0.11 and update 0.1.2, about 90 minutes for Season 2. After maintenance, close the game completely so Steam installs the update.

Common errors

WD-L020 crash

This crash came from a Windows 11 update (KB5124010). It was fixed in update 0.1.2 on 30 September. If you still get it, make sure your game is up to date and verify the file integrity in Steam.

Login queue

At launch on 10 September, the influx of players caused long queues. Bulkhead fixed the problem with a client update and connections in waves. Since 0.1.2, after you click Join, the game tells you it’s connecting and then your place in the queue if there is one.

Kicked for high ping

Since Season 2, official servers apply ping limits per region. If your ping stays above the limit for a prolonged time, you’re kicked and can’t return to that server until the next map change. Brief spikes don’t count. Pick a server in your region; community servers set their own limits.

A ping kick isn’t a penalty: your account isn’t affected, it’s only the connection to that server that’s refused until the next map.

Good habits

  1. Close Wardogs and Steam completely, then relaunch to install any update.
  2. Check the Steam announcements and the official X account.
  3. Verify the game file integrity in Steam.
  4. Update Windows and your graphics drivers.
  5. Try another server or another region.

The G4melab FR server is full or closed

The G4melab server only opens with at least 20 players: if it doesn’t show up, there may simply be no session in progress. Openings are announced on the Wardogs schedule and on the Discord. If it’s full, players who helped open it get 3 days of priority, renewed with every opening. All the details in our guide to joining the FR server.

Banned from a community server?

A community server is run by its own admins, who can remove you from their server. That ban only applies to that server: it doesn’t stop you playing elsewhere. Bans issued by Bulkhead, on the other hand, punish cheating and exploits across the whole game.

History and players online

The Steam player counter is shown on the Wardogs page. Detailed history and G4melab server population aren’t displayed on the site yet: this section will be completed when they’re available.

Server FAQ

How do I know if Wardogs servers are down?

Check the game’s Steam announcements, the @WARDOGS X account and the official Discord. There’s no public real-time status page.

What time does maintenance happen?

Maintenance for big updates has so far started around 8:00 UTC. It’s announced in advance on Steam.

Why was I kicked for ping?

Since Season 2, official servers kick players whose ping stays above the regional limit for a prolonged time. Pick a server close to you.

Is the G4melab server open right now?

Check the schedule or the Discord: the server opens when 20 players are together.
