In Wardogs, “cash is king”: it’s the game’s slogan. Your money pays for your weapon, your armour, your parachute, your vehicles, and even unlocking your gear. Knowing how to earn it, and above all not to waste it, completely changes your experience. Here are the cash sources that matter in Season 2.
How persistent cash works
Every player starts with $10,000. What you earn stays on your account from one match to the next: you can save up or spend big. Money is mainly earned through team actions in the zone: revives, transports, kills, spotting, building and zone control. The game doesn’t reward the solo player camping far from everything, it rewards the one who helps their side.
Cash is used for two different things, not to be confused:
- Buying from the vendor every life: for example an AK74 for $800, level 3 armour for $2,500 or a Sport parachute for $700 in Season 2.
- Unlocking gear once you reach its level on the track: the M4 requires $150,000 at Assault level 28, the FAL $250,000.
The best cash sources in Season 2
The Hot Zone: double cash
The Hot Zone is a sub-zone that moves inside the Control Zone. Everything you earn there is doubled, and your players count double for the score there. It’s the most profitable spot on the map, and therefore the most contested.
FOB hacking and destruction
Hacking an enemy FOB pays the hacker $2,500, plus $1,000 to each teammate within the radius. Destroying it adds a bonus of up to $7,500 depending on the stored resources. An Assault squad hunting FOBs can make very good money.
Logistics, if you keep going
Delivering crates and pallets pays less than in Season 1, but streaks make up for it: +$100 per crate delivered in a row (up to 10), +$250 per pallet in a row (up to 10) and +$50 per round trip in a row (up to 10). Taxiing pays a little too: +$25 per player transported in a row, up to 25. The golden rule: don’t abandon your truck after a single delivery.
Assault kills, towers and vehicles
- A kill with an Assault-family weapon pays $2,000 in Season 2.
- Capturing an enemy drill tower pays $1,500 (see our guide to capturing a tower).
- Each destroyed vehicle has its own bounty, much higher for armed variants: $11,000 for an L2A6 tank, $14,000 for a Havoc, $3,900 for an M2-armed Wolf-110.
Discounts to know
- Filling an empty server: players who populate an empty server get rewards and a vendor discount at the start of the match.
- Team in trouble: if your side is at least 40 points behind second place, it gets a 20% vendor discount.
Don’t go broke: good habits
- Match your gear to your mission. No need for $5,000 level 4 armour and a $4,500 helmet to drive a supply truck.
- Start with cheap weapons. In Season 2, the AK74 is unlocked by default and costs $800, the PP-19 Bizon $1,000.
- Use “Rebuy Last Loadout”. The button pre-fills the vendor with your last loadout, which you can adjust before buying: handy for avoiding duplicate purchases.
- Don’t parachute at random. In Season 2, the parachute opens more slowly and not at all below about 10 m. Trust your pilot or take the road.
- Beware the Wager Vendor. It’s due to open later in Season 2 and will let you bet your own cash on your performance. Win big or lose it all: save it for your good days.
Gold bars and the Gold Market
Your cash can be exchanged for Gold Bars, the endgame currency used to buy cosmetics in the Gold Market. There’s no pay-to-win. In Season 2, access to the Gold Market unlocks at level 35 of the WARDOG track for $150,000, and eight new camos were added.
What about the end-of-season wipe?
Bulkhead has been quoted explaining that at the end of the season, cash and XP progression are reset, with cash automatically converted into gold bars, while bars and cosmetics are kept. In practice, the studio admitted the Season 2 reset didn’t have the intended effect and is considering bringing Season 3 forward to offer a real fresh start. Before each season ends, check the official announcements: it’s often the right time to convert or spend.
No exploits, or it’s back to zero
Abusing a cash bug means a temporary ban and a reset of your cash and XP. Season 2 also closed several loopholes: reselling via supply crates now has diminishing returns, and selling to an enemy no longer pays anything.
